Evidence-based advocacy for indigenous rights, social justice, inclusive governance, and community empowerment across Nepal and internationally.

Born into the Sunuwar indigenous community of Okhaldhunga, my advocacy for indigenous rights is not an abstract political position β it is a lived, deeply personal commitment. Growing up witnessing the struggles, dignity, and cultural richness of my community shaped my understanding of what it means to fight for recognition, equity, and preservation of identity.
Advocating for the preservation of Sunuwar language, traditions, and cultural practices through policy channels and community organisations, ensuring future generations maintain their identity amid rapid modernisation.
Working to ensure indigenous communities are represented in government decision-making processes, in line with Nepal's constitutional provisions and international indigenous rights frameworks including ILO Convention 169.
Championing educational opportunities for indigenous youth, drawing from my own experience of the barriers faced by rural and indigenous communities in accessing quality education in Nepal.
Supporting indigenous community rights over ancestral lands and natural resources, particularly in Nepal's forest regions, where traditional livelihoods and cultural identity are deeply intertwined with land.
My public service work has regularly intersected with Nepal's international obligations and UN frameworks. Through World Bank projects, ISPOR, GPPN conferences, and government liaison roles, I have contributed to Nepal's engagement with international development and governance standards.
Served as the Government of Nepal's focal person for two World Bank-funded projects β the Sunaula Hazar Din nutrition project and the Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Plan β coordinating implementation with World Bank teams and national partners.
Represented the University of Tokyo at the Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) conferences at LSE (2020) and NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (2019), presenting policy case studies on Nepal's governance challenges.
In current role at PM's Secretariat and as Chief District Officer, served as primary liaison between Nepal's government and international bodies, NGOs, and external stakeholders on policy and development matters.
Active member of ISPOR International (Membership No. 3232493), contributing to global health economics and outcomes research networks and representing Nepal's health policy interests in international forums including Boston (2023) and Montreal (2025).

My community leadership is rooted in service, identity, and deep responsibility to the people I come from. From the villages of Okhaldhunga to the corridors of national power, I remain committed to the communities that shaped me.
Through membership in Nepal Heart Foundation and ISPOR, I actively contribute to public health education, promoting awareness of preventable diseases, health system strengthening, and evidence-based medical decisions.
Led disaster management operations across multiple districts (Rukum East, Ramechhap, Surkhet), coordinating relief efforts during floods, landslides, and earthquakes β placing community welfare above all.
Promoted sustainable eco-tourism in Solukhumbu (Everest region) as a model for community economic development, preserving cultural heritage while creating dignified livelihoods for mountain communities.
Through JICA leadership training, Lions Club membership, and mentoring young civil servants, I invest in developing the next generation of Nepal's ethical, capable public service leaders.
Building a More Just
Nepal for All
Social justice is the thread running through all my work β from designing inclusive health policies to ensuring rural communities receive equitable public services. I believe that development is only meaningful when it reaches those who have historically been left behind.
Health Equity
Advancing evidence-based health policies that prioritise equitable access to quality healthcare for Nepal's rural, indigenous, and marginalised populations through Health Technology Assessment and policy reform.
Gender Justice
Building on research into women's decision-making roles in Tamang and other communities (MA thesis), advocating for gender-responsive governance, women's political participation, and equal opportunity in public service.
Pro-Poor Welfare Policy
Co-authored analysis on pro-poor COVID relief policies (eKantipur, 2020), advocating for welfare systems that protect Nepal's most vulnerable during crises and in normal times alike.
Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Project (MSNP)
Served as focal person for Nepal's national nutrition initiative addressing malnutrition across communities.
Golden 1000 Days Project
Focal person for World Bank-funded Community Action for Nutrition Project targeting children's first 1000 days.
